I'm so excited to be part of the fantastic fiddler crab family and teaching third grade!
I grew up in New York in a small town called Valley Stream. I moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1989, but actually moved down south in 1983, to Columbia, SC, and then to Asheville, NC. I graduated from Hofstra University with a B.S. Ed. in Fine Arts & Education. I earned a M.Ed. in Middle Grades from Georgia Southern University, and an Ed. D from the University of South Carolina in Curriculum and Instruction. I am considered a Highly Qualified teacher and hold gifted endorsement as well. I have taught for the past 26 years in many different educational arenas. I started my teaching career in Columbia, in a second grade classroom, and then moved to Asheville, and taught mostly fifth grade students. I taught fifth grade at Butler Elementary School, and then transferred to Bartlett Middle School two years later. I accepted a position at Georgia Southern University and taught in the Department of Middle Grades and Secondary Education for seven years. In 2000, I accepted a 5th grade position at Southwest Elementary School, and in 2005, I took a position in Effingham County as a Gifted Resource Teacher and taught K-5 students at Ebenezer Elementary School. I've taught kindergarten through graduate school and have enjoyed my career thoroughly. I live in the Isle of Hope area where my husband, Vernon - an elementary school principal here in Savannah, GA. We have four married children, and four grandchildren. We also have a miniature schnauzer name Ellie Mae. I have several hobbies...but most of all enjoy handing out with friends and family. Some of my favorite foods are Mexican and Chinese. I like to drink coffee and hot tea during the winter months. I like to shop, go to the beach, garden, and go camping. I love flowers and the color green. |
